My name is Daniel Keller and I have been an educator for much of my adult life. I started as a teacher (not my cup of tea) but knew I wanted to work in a high school. I went back to school to earn an additional degree to become a school counselor. I LOVE my job. This position gave me a different perspective of the journey of today’s student. I realized that the K-12 system teaches to the now. Obviously, there is nothing wrong with teaching the most relevant information. However, if the emphasis is now then how are we adequately preparing students to look forward?
Post-secondary (college) acquisition is typically not given much thought until the senior year of high school is on the horizon. Yet, this approach does not give a student much time to prepare themselves. You wouldn’t prepare for your dream job the week before the interview, would you? This is the same philosophy – preparation is key. In my experience, there are way too many students who fall into this category. I am here to ensure that it doesn’t happen to you!
